On 24th February 2021, Cllr Gordon spoke against the planning application to develop Little Orchard (R20/0285) at the Rugby Borough Council Planning Committee. The Parish Council is pleased to announce that the application was refused unanimously on ecological grounds. The committee also recommended the developer work with the community, especially the Parish Council, if producing a revised submission. Furthermore, the land immediately to the south of the development site, where ‘Pond 1’ is located has been destroyed, and all the vegetation cleared. RBC have a good record of the pond in that location, and surveys confirming that it was a newt breeding pond therefore a police investigation is taking place as this is potentially a wildlife crime.
