The Parish Council has no jurisdiction over parking or speeding but it continually tries to combat the recurring problems in these areas by keeping in close contact with Warwickshire Police. It has corresponded with our PCSO on several occasions regarding these issues. In addition to this, the Parish Council has invested in signage and strategically placed planters to encourage drivers to slow down and park with consideration. It has also been instrumental in the implementation of the Community Speed Watch Team who regularly monitor traffic in Stretton and Princethorpe, and report speeding vehicles to the Police. Residents with concerns about, parking, speeding or other anti-social behaviour or any criminal activity are encouraged to contact the Safer Neighbourhood Teams on 01788 853851 or via 101.

Successful Litter Pick Morning
Thanks to all those who attended the Community Litter Pick on March 16th. 68 people of all ages helped to fill over 25 black bags with litter picked from all over the village. Multiple car parts and other debris were retrieved from the ditches on Fineacre Lane, Freeboard Lane and Rugby Lane and over 65 bacon batches were served from the Scout Hut in Plott Lane Park to those who had braved the windy weather all morning.
Special thanks to Nicki Haywood for arranging the event, and co-ordinating the volunteers on the day with Paul Gordon. Also thanks to Tim Bench for supplying the black bags and disposable gloves. Finally to Fiona Haden, Helen Stewart and Vicki Ledger for their help in preparing and cooking the bacon batches and to the Scouts for allowing the use of their facilities.

Duck Race 2018 – Winners!
All the prizes have been distributed, and the Duck Race Team have raised a whopping £1900 for 1st Stretton-on-Dunsmore Scouts Group.
Huge thanks to:
• Michelle & David Morris at the Oak for hosting Guess the Name of the Duck for selling tickets, promoting the event and donating prizes. The pizza van (arranged by The Oak) was so popular it sold out by 7pm!
• Vanessa & John Braithwaite for selling the tickets in Brookside Stores.
• Gillian Key-Vice for giving access to her property all afternoon.
• Brian Roberts for livening up the race with his commentary!
• Millie-Beth Green, Abbi Hoyle and Elena Ridges for giving up their Saturday afternoon to paint faces and tattoo arms. The girls worked so hard and efficiently together, and raised £125 on the day.
• Optera for sponsoring Guess the Name of the Duck which raised an incredible £85 this year. (The Duck name was selected randomly on the day ‘Jerry’ and won by Izzy Hoyle)
• Everyone who sold tickets, bought tickets, or manned a stall.
The prize list this year was incredible and donated mostly by local people without whom the duck race wouldn’t be able to go ahead.
We hope you agree it was a delight to see so many families lining our beautiful brook. and cheering along their little yellow ducks.
See you again next year!
