Coming up in 2018 & 2019:

Saturday 10th  February 2018 – Speed Awareness Training
At 2pm in the Village Hall, Sgt Masters of Warwickshire Police will be training another set of volunteers so they are able to join the Stretton and Princethorpe Joint Community Speed Watch Team.

Saturday 17th February 2018 – Stretton Ladies Fellowship Sewing Day
The ladies will be sewing bags for patients in the Breast Care Unit who have undergone surgery. If you are free and would like to help please drop into the village hall between 10am and 2pm.

Tuesday 20th February 2018 – History Society Meeting
At 7.30pm in the village hall Michael Luntley (of the Princethorpe History Society) will give a talk on ‘Knowing one’s place: Rural Crime and Punishment in the late 19th Century.’ All welcome, entry is £2.

Saturday 24th February 2018 – The WI Annual Supper and Quiz
Sausage/Cheese, jacket potato and beans followed by a trifle. Entry £8 starting at 7.30pm.

Monday 26th February 2018 – WI Walk
These walks are arranged by the WI but everyone is welcome! Meet on the Village Green at 10am.

Saturday 10th March 2018 – Community Litter Pick
Everyone (and the dog) is welcome to join members of the Parish Council in a annual spring clean of the village. Meet on the Village Green at 10am, wearing wellies! Some litter picking sticks and gloves are available but if you have your own please bring them.

Saturday 3rd March 2018 – ‘Think of England’
Stretton Village Hall is promising an evening of entertainment when a travelling theatre company perform a play entitled ‘This is England.’ The play is set in 1947 and tells the tale of Bette and Vera who travel the country hosting tea dances for the RAF boys! Friday 23rd March 2018 – Quiz Night at Knightlow School
This a ticketed adult only fun quiz night organised by Knightlow School Association and open to everyone. Entry is £5 per person and includes a fish and chip supper. Alcoholic and soft drinks will be available to purchase throughout the evening. Doors open at 7pm or a 7.30pm start. All proceeds go to Knightlow School. To book your place contact

Wednesday 11th April 2018 – Saturday 14th April – ‘A Bunch of Amatuers’
The latest production from Stretton on Stage is the hilarious yet touching ‘A Bunch of Amateurs’, originally penned by Ian Hislop & Nick Newman and starring Burt Reynolds. Come along and watch our own village ‘A-list’ thespians perform the Queen’s favourite play! Tickets on sale now from Brookside Stores, at £10 each.

Sunday 15th April 2018 – Annual Church Meeting
All villages welcome as there will be an opportunity to discuss the future of our Church and the Church can best support the people of Stretton. 7pm (after Evening Worship) at All Saints Church.

Saturday 21st April 2018 – Race Night.
Daisy Thompson is hosting a charity race night in the village hall on 21st April at 7pm to raise funds for her world challenge to Botswana. Tickets are £10 to include a Fish & Chip supper. For tickets please contact Ruth Thompson 07931 349652

Saturday 28th April 2018 – Celebrate@4

Saturday 28th April 2018 – Film Night

Saturday 12th May 2018 – Duck Race
Lots of family fun to be had at the annual duck race held on the Village Green from 3pm.
The Oak and Black will be serving delicious pizza through out the day. Tickets are £1 per duck, with lots of fabulous prizes to be won, including £100 cash, family days out, Sky Blues’ tickets, meal vouchers, and booze! Tickets on sale now from Brookside Stores and the Oak and Black Dog. All proceeds to Stretton on Dunsmore Scouts. You’d be quackers to miss it!

Monday 14th May 2018 – Parish Social and AGM
Come along to the Parish Social chat to Parish Councillors, and peruse the displays prepared by village community groups while enjoying drinks and nibbles. The Parish Social starts at 6.30pm on 14th May 2018 in Knightlow School Hall and is followed by the Parish Council AGM at 7.30pm, and the ordinary monthly meeting at 8pm.

Saturday 16th June 2018 – Village Fete
The annual village fete is always a fun filled day! Lots of stalls, food and games on the Village Green from 2.30pm, followed by music and BBQ in the evening until late! For more details please contact Katie Waterworth

Saturday 18th August 2018 – Grand Summer Concert at All Saints Church.
Featuring Five Fipple Flutes & Edward Harcourt Piano. Entrance £8 to include refreshments. All proceeds will be donated to the Church Repair Fund and Children’s Liver Disease Foundation.

Saturday 8th September 2018 – Community Engagement Event
Village Hall between 10.30am – 12.30pm
Come along and chat to your local officers from Warwickshire Police, where you will have the opportunity to learn about the Supported Villages Scheme, have your property marked and received crime prevention advice. Please do bring along some items you would like you would like to be marked, and collect a FREE property marking pen. Bicycles, Power Tools, Laptops, Ipads, Garden Tools etc
Refreshments will be provided by the Parish Council.

Tuesday 11th September 2018 – Teams4U Slideshow
You are invited along to All Saints Church at 7pm to a talk and slide show about Teams4U visit to Romania in December 2017. Come and share some of the joy these boxes give to the children!

Saturday 13th October 2018- A Night at the Races
It’s back by popular demand – Village Hall, 7.30pm – Licensed Bar: Tickets £7.50 including fish & chips. All proceeds go towards the Village Hall fund.

Saturday 10th November 2018- Scouts Bonfire & Fireworks Night
Location: Fosse Way Park.  All proceeds go towards 1st Stretton-on-Dunsmore Scout Group. Tickets available in advance from Brookside Stores or on the night. Bonfire lit at 6pm, click for further info

Sunday 11th November 2018- Armistice Day
This year marks the centenary of the end of WW1. As is traditional, 1st Stretton-on-Dunsmore Scout Groups will parade through the village on Sunday morning to All Saints Church, where a Remembrance Service will take place. Following this a short Act of Remembrance, led by Rev. David, in conjunction with the Parish Council, will take place at 12noon at the War Monument on the A45/Fosse Way traffic island. Everyone is welcome at both events.

Thursday 15th November 2018 – Village Hall Quiz Night
The Trustees invite you to another cheerful and not too serious evening of quiz trivia. Teams of up to 6 persons are invited at £3 per head, for more info click here

Thursday 22nd November 2018 – 7.30pm.
Warwickshire Police will be in the School Hall at Knightlow Primary to provide crime prevention advice, free property marking – bring along anything you wish, i.e. bicycles, power tools, IT equipment etc, chat to local officers about any issues or concerns and hear about the ‘Supported Villages Scheme’, funded by the Warwickshire Police & Crime Commissioner.

Saturday 1st December 2018 – Christmas Fayre & Light Switch On
Featuring festive stalls, refreshments and mulled wine with Christmas carols and the village centre lights grand switch-on! Fun starts from 4pm in the village centre.

Saturday 15th December 2018 – Bacon Bap Breakfast
The Village Hall Trustees invite you to ‘Deck the Halls with Bacon and Coffee!’ Enjoy an bacon buttie with a hot drink in the Village Hall between 9.30am – 10.30am.  For more details please click here
